Oberkommando West 10,5cm leFH 18
The designation 10,5cm refers to the 105mm caliber with a 28-caliber barrel length. The name is derived from official terminology: le stands for light (leichte), FH for field howitzer (Feldhaubitze), and 18 denotes 1918, the year it was designed. Under the restrictions of the Treaty of Versailles, the German high command sought to overcome weight and tonnage limits through lightweight engineering or by falsifying specifications. These efforts eventually contributed to the birth of the new operational doctrine known as Blitzkrieg. The 10,5cm leFH 18 was one of the many assets produced within the boundaries permitted by the treaty.
In the past, reaching Veterancy Rank 1 granted the "Counter-Battery" ability. However, following a patch on July 23, 2021, which reworked commander skill sets for both Allied and Axis forces, Counter-Battery was removed and replaced with Airburst Shells. While the OKW version is essentially the same piece of artillery used by the Wehrmacht, there are three key differences: OKW supports up to Veterancy Rank 5, it has one additional crew member, and it possesses the "Direct Fire" ability. Note that the 60% reload speed buff at Rank 4 applies only when using Airburst Shells.

Upon reaching Veterancy Rank 1, you can utilize Airburst Shells at the cost of 50 Munitions. These shells are designed to explode at a high altitude, raining lethal fragments down onto the ground; it is easiest to think of them as an aerial version of anti-personnel mines.
This ability is highly effective at suppressing infantry within a 10m radius. Even infantry squads in heavy cover will immediately suffer from a "Suppressed" status when exposed to airbursts. If the bombardment continues, they will quickly transition into a "Pinned" state. While the immediate lethality may fall short of some expectations, it is exceptionally effective at whittling down the health and combat effectiveness of enemy infantry squads.
